How to Choose The Right Corner Spa Bath for Your Home
If you want to bring a touch of luxury to a newly renovated or newly built bathroom, then consider adding a corner spa bath to your design layout. These types of baths are a wonderfully opulent addition to any bathroom, but with so many different sizes and features to choose from it can be hard to know which one is right for you.
Luckily for you, CTM is on the case. We’ve created an easy guide on everything you need to know about corner spa baths including understanding the variety of corner spa bath sizes, materials, and how to choose the right bathtub for your needs.
What Is a Corner Spa Bath?
There are two parts to defining this type of bathtub. First of all, a corner bath refers to the type of shape of bath that is designed in an almost triangular shape which can be fitted in the corner of a bathroom, meaning along two adjacent walls.
A spa bath is a normal bath with the ability to circulated warm, aerated water through itself and create bubbles. This gives you the effect of lying in a type of Jacuzzi or hot pool.
When you put the two concepts together, you get pure relaxation and rejuvenation in one bath.
How To Know If a Corner Bathtub Is Right For Your Bathroom
When deciding on any kind of permanent fixture for a bathroom, there are a few questions you should consider before going out and buying. The key to getting the right type, shape, and size of bathtub comes down to perfect planning.
#1 – Create A Floor Plan
If you’ve had plans drawn up for a new bathroom or you’re redesigning a bathroom on your own, make sure you’re working from a design plan based on the exact measurements of the rooms. A good layout plan will show, in a 2D format, the floor plan of the bathroom and where all the fixtures could possibly sit including the toilet, basins, bath, and shower. Don’t forget to include the door (and make reference to which way it opens), windows, and plumbing and electrical points.
#2 – Work Out Exact Measurements
Always take the exact measurements of the bathroom, and never work from a guesstimate. The difference of a few centimetres can mean the difference between a bath that fits and one that doesn’t. Using a tape measure, get the exact measurements of the room and then work out how the fixtures can be fitted and what size they need to be.
#3 – Step It Out In Person
Working from your floor plan, step out the exact measurements in person and get a feel for how it flows in reality. What might look good on paper, may not feel right in person and you may want to change a few things around once you’ve actually stepped out the bathroom.
#4 – Time To Choose Your Fixtures
Now that you’ve got everything well planned and stepped out, you can decide if a corner spa bath works for your space. When deciding if a corner spa bath is the right choice, make sure you have considered these questions:
- Is there enough room around the longest side of the bath to manoeuvre in the bathroom?
- Is there enough space for other important fixtures like the toilet, basin, and shower?
- Does the plumbing in the bathroom allow for a corner bath to go where you want it to go?
The Types and Styles of Corner Spa Baths
If you’ve answered yes to all of the above questions, and you’re certain that a corner spa bath is the right design solution for your space, then it’s time to find your perfect fit. There are many different corner bath sizes in South Africa, and you’ll be able to find them all at CTM.
To determine the size of the corner bath you need, get to CTM online or in store today, but make sure you’ve taken these three measurements in order to choose the right sized one:
- Length, in metres, of both corner walls
- Length, in metres, of longest side of the bath (or open side)
Design Tip: If you’re determined to create a corner bath, but cannot find the right corner bath size to fit your space, you could also consider creating a corner wall unit (so to speak) and lay an oval or rectangular bath into it. This can give a bathroom space the impression of having a corner bathtub, but the bath itself is actually a standard oval or rectangular bath.
