Why You Should Organize Your Kitchen Sink Cupboard
A kitchen sink cupboard is not often thought about as one to keep clean because it’s usually under the sink and out of the way. The reality is though, it should be one of your cleanest and most organised cupboards because it houses your most valuable cleaning essentials.
The main reasons for keeping your kitchen sink cupboard in a top notch state are:
- To keep your cleaning agents, products and chemicals in an orderly fashion.
- To prevent spilling and leaking of strong chemicals.
- Less clutter can make things easier to find.
- For safety reasons for small children and vulnerable people.
5 Steps to Organizing the Space Under Your Kitchen Sink
Follow these five easy steps for ideas on organising your kitchen cupboard under the sink, and you’ll have a clean, sanitary, organised space in no time at all.
#1 – First, Take Everything Out
Take out every bottle, every cloth, every sponge, everything! Give the entire area a good clean with a multipurpose cleaner or spray.
#2 – Categorise Your Products
Organise your products into categories like cloths, sponges, cleaning products etc. Place all the accessories or products with the same functions together. When it comes to your products, be sure to check the expiry dates on all the products and dispose of any products that have passed their prime. Recycle any packaging that is empty or throw away bottles that are empty and cannot be recycled.
#3 – Protect the Cupboard
Now that you are ready to place everything back in, we recommend laying down a liner to protect the cupboard surface. You can use drawer liners that can be removed, or stick down a permanent liner. If you are trying to save on cash, using old newspaper can also work well as a liner.
#4 – Use Storage Containers and Bins
Invest in a range of storage bins or containers to keep all your accessories and products together. This enables everything to be in once place and not fall all over the place and get messy. If you’re on a budget and would prefer to upcycle containers you already have, you can use old ice cream tubs, glass coffee jars, or other recycled containers that can simply be cleaned and used as storage containers.
#5 – Use All The Space Well
Don’t be afraid to use every possible surface of your cupboard as storage. Cupboard doors can be used for extra hanging storage and spice racks can be inserted in the cupboards as small storage spaces too.
